French Guineas at Longchamp

We were delighted to see Mangoustine win for Mikel Delzangles and to win at 10/1.

She's owned by Tony Parker a former NBA star and prevented Cachet from scoring a rare double of the English and French Guineas in a close finish.  Times Square at 19/1 ran third.

The boys version – the Poule d'essai des Poulains saw the Godolphin Modern Games run a very good race to win under William Buick.  Buick was non-commital about the extra distance for the Jockey Club (French Derby) at Chantilly but Charlie Appleby says that running him is one way of finding out.

Texas was a surprise second, having been up the front all race.  The son of Wooton Basset is trained by Henri-Francois Devis and was well ridden by Clement Lecouevre – he started on 11/1.  The Fabre runners Tribalist and Ancient Rome followed and then Lassautt, who was arguably unlucky having had a rough trip.  Don't rule him out just yet!

The Prix Saint-Georges G3 over the 1000m saw a new name in the sprint ranks with the Czech raider Ponntos winning.  He's trained by Miroslav Nieslanik who had astutely booked Frankie Dettori for the ride.  They were followed home by Berneuil, Suesa and Clarendon House.
