The Oaks 2012 went to an O'Brien runner but it wasn't the favourite Maybe it was Was, with Seamie Heffernan riding to a 20/1 victory.
On a day when the on pace runners mostly prevailed, Was was perfectly placed in third on the rails for most of the trip and had enough gas to get through and win from a fast finishing Shirocco Star at 16/1 with The Fugue, who had gone out favourite, coming home third ahead of Vow fourth and Maybe who was never in contention in fifth.
The Princess Elizabeth went to Sir Mark Prescott's Clinical. We mentioned yesterday how good he was at placing horses - well, he got this one right and the one that we thought would win, Worthadd in the Diomed, was fourth. Joviality came rattling home but too late and Barefoot Lady was third.
The Diomed went to Andrew Balding's Side Glance with Dance And Dance second and Mac Hope third. As mentioned Worthadd was fourth and Macret fifth.
