Monday's racing round-up includes the news of some big-race entries at Newmarket later this week…
Aidan O'Brien has revealed that Fairy Godmother will not line up again this season. An impressive winner of the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, she had been in line to tackle the Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. With Fairy Godmother now ruled out, O'Brien may look to Lake Victoria for Saturday's assignment. She maintained her unbeaten record in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh and could drop back to six furlongs to take on Ger Lyon's exciting juvenile Babouche.
Ante-post favourite Whistlejacket was among twelve confirmations for the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. Aidan O'Brien's July Stakes winner looks set for a return to Newmarket in a bid to follow up his Group 1 triumph in the Prix Morny at Deauville. The unbeaten Defence Minister, who was withdrawn from the Mill Reef Stakes due to soft ground at Newbury last weekend, was supplemented by Wathnan Racing.
Patrick Neville's The Real Whacker features in a maximum field of 18 runners for the Guinness Kerry National at Listowel on Wednesday. A Grade 1 winner over fences at the Cheltenham Festival, The Real Whacker will be bidding to bounce to his best having pulled-up in the Gold Cup before failing to complete in the Oaksey Chase at Sandown.
Rachael Blackmore has been ruled out of action in the coming weeks following a fall at Downpatrick on Friday. Blackmore suffered a neck injury when parting company with the Denis Howard-trained Hand Over Fist.
Connections of Charlie Johnston's youngster Lazy Griff are eyeing a tilt at the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud in late October. Lazy Griff created a nice impression when battling on strongly to Group 3 Prix de Conde under Christophe Soumillon at Chantilly on Saturday.
