Rod Millman's star filly bounces back to winning ways.

Rod Millman watched from the Sandown stands as his star filly Adaay In Devon battled on tenaciously to deny the fast-finishing Flora Of Bermuda by a head in the Listed Scurry Stakes over five furlongs.

A winner of seven of her fifteen career outings, Adaay In Devon was sent off the 11/8 market leader to get back to winning ways following her third-place finish behind the Commonwealth Cup-bound Elite Status in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury.

Positively ridden from stall three on her drop back to the minimum trip under Silvestre De Sousa, the daughter of Adaay made virtually all the running before showing a tremendous attitude to fend off her challengers in the closing stages.

"She had a great two-year-old season because she won the four bonus races," explained the winning trainer. "She's just kept improving and put up another good performance."

"She's given everything else three pounds and has done it very well. I was pleased with her. We trained her pretty hard last year because of those bonus races and she is quite small, but she did do well over the winter. She put on quite a bit of muscle and actually weighed 427 kilos walking onto the box this morning, whereas she was winning last season racing under 400 kilos."

Adaay In Devon looks set to be kept to fillies' black-type races in England this season, but Millman didn't rule out a trip overseas in the future.

He said: "We'll keep her to the fillies' black-type races here this year but maybe next year we could go abroad somewhere. She's done more than pay for herself put it that way."
