Racing Round-Up: 30th September

Monday's racing round-up includes the news of eleven confirmations for the Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

John and Thady Gosden's duo Inspiral and Nashwa could be set to clash as both fillies featured in the eleven confirmations for the Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. The former, who could be having her swansong outing according to Gosden senior, will be attempting to defend her crown, while the latter will be having her first start since finishing ninth in the Group 1 Dubai Turf at Meydan in March. Recent Group 3 Atalanta Stakes winner Tamfana also stood her ground at this stage alongside Roger Varian's 1000 Guineas heroine Elmalka.


Although disappointing when favourite for the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket on Saturday, Charlie Fellowes has muted his juvenile Luther could make a quick reappearance in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on Sunday.


The Jockey Club have revealed that they have sold a high-profile Premier Saturday fixture to York. Criterion Stakes Day, traditionally held at Newmarket's July Course, will now be held at York on June 28th 2025. As well as the Group 3 Criterion Stakes, the card will also feature the Listed Empress Stakes and Fred Archer Stakes.


The Richard Hughes-trained progressive filly No Half Measures looks likely to head to the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc Day. A close sixth from a wide draw over the Abbaye course and distance last month, she gained a first Group 3 success when steered to victory by Ryan Moore in the World Trophy Stakes at Newbury just six days later and has risen from a rating of 73 to 108.


Look De Vega was reported to have come through his final piece of work on the turf with flying colours as he bids to claim the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The son of Lope De Vega was usurped at the head of the betting for Europe's premier middle-distance prize when a beaten favourite behind Sosie, who now tops the market, after winning the Prix Niel at Longchamp on trials day.
