Group 1 and Classic heroine Fallen Angel has been purchased by Wathnan Racing. Owned by Steve Parkin's Clipper Logistics, the Karl Burke-trained filly ended her juvenile season with a victory in the seven-furlong Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes before returning with a disappointing run in the 1000 Guineas. She bounced back to winning ways with Classic success in the Irish 1000 Guineas and has not been seen on the track since due to a small setback.
Ryan Moore completed a four-time at the Curragh when landing the Irish Cambridgeshire Handicap on Saturday, aboard the Joseph O'Brien-trained Wigmore Street. It was an exciting day for Coolmore's retained rider, who was also successful with Ides Of March in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh. The son of Wootton Bassett strolled to a first Group success over six furlongs on his fourth career start and will head to the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket for his next run.
Dermot Weld's Tarawa landed a well-deserved Group 3 success in the Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes, justifying the trainer's decision to remain in Ireland rather than head to America. She was successful in the course and distance Listed Glencairn Stakes back in June and out-ran market expectations of 11/2 to finish ahead of fellow Aga Khan-owned Hanalia.
Absurde was shortened to 16/1 for the Melbourne Cup by Paddy Power after taking the Listed Chester Stakes at Chester on Saturday. Seventh in last year's 'race that stops a nation', the gelding took the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival before disappointing on his return to the flat in the Irish St Leger Stakes. Jockey Danny Tudhope, in an interview with Sky Sports Racing, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be able to ride him. He did all the hard work, I just had to steer him. He's very versatile. From what I hear he's a bit of a character and getting him down to the start is the hardest part. He's a bit of a boy but he was very good today. I thought they went a nice, even gallop and he picked them up easy."
