Blue-blooded Frankel colt sells to Coolmore for 2,000,000 guineas on day two of the Tattersalls Book 1 sale.
Coolmore and Godolphin renewed their rivalry at the Tattersalls Book 1 sale at Park Paddocks in Newmarket on Wednesday, with the former coming out on top to land a Frankel yearling for 2,000,000 guineas on day two.
The colt consigned by Anthony Oppenheimer and Hascombe and Valiant Stud is a half-brother to one winner in Bizarre Law but ticks plenty of boxes throughout the pedigree, with the dam being a full-sister to Grade 1 Canadian International winner Cannock Chase.
The battle commenced and with Coolmore's MV Magnier positioned purposefully in the gangway, it soon became clear he was by no means going to let up in this clash between two global superpowers.
Speaking to Tattersalls, Magnier said: "He is a lovely horse and from a very successful stud in Hascombe, which has bred very good horses in the past and are very good breeders,"
"This is a well-bred horse; Frankel is flying, and everyone [from Coolmore] liked him – and he goes to Ballydoyle."
Oppenheimer said: "So far, we have done quite well and sold four, and we have more to sell [over the whole of the October Sale].
"There were no regrets at all when he was going around the ring. I did not think we'd get as much as that; I know he is a very nice horse – refuelling the stud's finances and it can't do any harm!"
