Take Western to Star at Redcar

Western Stars looks a good bet in the Join Racing TV Today Handicap at Redcar.

The Ed Dunlop-trained gelding brought three solid runs in maidens to his handicap debut over a mile at Pontefract in June.

Sent off at 4-1 in the hands of William Buick, the son of Almanzor was dropped out last before moving into it and then rousted along on the turn.

He responded in kind, and while only on top inside the final half-furlong he ultimately won with authority and everything about it suggested 10 furlongs would be perfect.

Unraced at two, there is probably more to come, even off his revised mark, especially as the trip promises to being about more improvement.

Corsican Caper is one to be with in the Follow @attheraces On Twitter Restricted Maiden Stakes at Yarmouth.

Kevin Philippart de Foy's youngster went into the notebook with his debut fourth at Kempton, a race which saw history made with Dubai Mile giving Mark Johnston his 5,000th career winner.

The Fast Company colt had raced towards the rear and was just making nice progress up the far rail when he got a reasonably severe bump over two furlongs out.

That was the end of his chance, but he ran on encouragingly and only just missed out on third. He can do better again.

Tarhib was a beaten favourite last time out but those who keep the faith with William Haggas' charge can profit as he tries again in the Bob Hunt's Race Day Fillies' Handicap.

For a four-year-old he has not had much racing, but the fact he has been fancied so often and that he has been kept in training by the Shadwell operation suggests he shows plenty at home.

At Wolverhampton, She's Centimental can get off the mark at the second time of asking in the Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Restricted Maiden Stakes.

The Alice Haynes-trained filly made a perfectly respectable debut at Southwell at the end of last month, ultimately just finding the more experienced Red Treasure too strong. Global Effort is the obvious danger and has reasonable form to his name, but having been off since May he might need it.

Perfect Play can live up to his name in the Follow @Attheraces On Twitter Nursery Handicap.

He looked an improved performer trying a mile for the first time in victory at Carlisle and another furlong and a half here should only suit.
