Symphony looks perfect at Lingfield

Symphony Perfect could prove the best bet in the SBK Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield.

One of two three-year-olds to line up in this seven-furlong Group Three, Symphony Perfect is certainly fit for action having run twice already this term with plenty of her rivals kicking off their seasons here.

Richard Hannon campaigned this filly pretty aggressively in 2021, with the daughter of Fast Company showing admirable consistency in only once finishing out of the first five in 11 outings.

Her mark of 100 meant connections had to aim pretty high and her Fred Darling fifth was certainly not to be sneezed at, just getting edged out for a place in the final strides after trying to make all on her first try at seven furlongs.

Dropped back to six furlongs on the all-weather at Chelmsford subsequently, she had to settle for second so perhaps she is worth another try at this longer trip, particularly with her three-year-old allowance giving her a hefty advantage on the ratings.

Walk Of Stars is a hot favourite for the SBK Derby Trial Stakes after a narrow defeat of a fellow Charlie Appleby inmate at Newbury last month.

The Dubawi colt prevailed by a neck but looked value for the distance and as a general 10-1 shot for the Cazoo Derby itself, it will be disappointing if he cannot cement his credentials for the premier Classic.

Emily Dickinson can feel the benefit of her recent Naas victory as she lines up in the SBK Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes for Aidan O'Brien.

While she only beat Red Azalea a neck just under two weeks ago, she still looked a bit green in the closing stages with a further step up from 10 furlongs expected to suit as a daughter of Dubawi out of an Irish Oaks winner in Chicquita.

Moving up to just short of the Oaks trip, Emily Dickinson can book her Epsom ticket.

If Al Aasy turns up anywhere near his best for Ascot's Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes, he should take all the beating in the Listed highlight.

However, given the disappointing way he ended last term, that is certainly not a given and Mandoob could be poised to spring a minor surprise.

He showed steady progression for Brian Meehan, posting his best effort when beaten just over two lengths by subsequent dual Grade One winner Yibir in July.

Mandoob did not run again until October, when he came home third at this track, but that effort is probably best forgotten as the ground was against him and conditions should be more to his liking this time.

Fresh can lift the tote Victoria Cup after just missing out on his warm-up run last month.

Sent to Kempton to tackle a competitive six-furlong all-weather event, he was beaten a short head by a lightly-weighted rival having made telling progress in the final furlong.

He would have been in front in another handful of strides, so it makes sense that James Fanshawe gives him another try over seven furlongs.

Anna Bunina can confirm Ayr form with West Cork in the Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle at Haydock.

John McConnell's charge beat West Cork a length in the Scottish Champion Hurdle and while she was getting 12lb from that rival, she did not enjoy a perfect run through the race and still managed to grab the victory.

Her advantage is 9lb over West Cork this time and conditions are likely to be in her favour.

Glen Shiel might like it a bit more testing on Merseyside, but he is nevertheless the class act in the Pertemps Network Conditions Stakes.

He shows his best with some cut and if he can reproduce the level of his last run, when beaten a length in Group One company on Champions Day, that would be good enough.

Watermelon Sugar should make it four from four in the Join Our Bet Club At vickers.bet Selling Stakes at Thirsk.

After scoring on his Wolverhampton debut, connections paid £31,000 to retain him when he won a Leicester seller at the beginning of April, with his subsequent start producing a Southwell novice win under a penalty.

His rating of 82 puts him head and shoulders above his rivals.
