James Fanshawe Delighted With Winning Start For Well-Bred Fly At Lingfield

James Fanshawe was in no rush to make ambitious plans for Fly after the well-related filly claimed a last-gasp debut victory at Lingfield.

The three-year-old is a half-sister to the Newmarket trainer's Group One-winning filly Seal Of Approval and also carries the same colours of owner-breeder Tim Vestey.

A 4-1 shot for her racecourse introduction, Fly showed all the hallmarks of inexperience, getting off to a tardy start and appearing outpaced before the penny eventually dropped.

She looked booked for minor honours when strong-travelling favourite Napoleon Solo went clear inside the last of seven furlongs, but the race changed dramatically in the closing stages as the market leader hung left and allowed a Freddie Tylicki-galvanised Fly to get up by a neck.

Fanshawe said: "I thought her lack of experience might catch her out and she didn't have a very good draw, so she's done well to win.

"Even half a furlong from the end it looked as though she wouldn't get there, so it was a good performance and her heart's in the right place."

Asked to compare the winner to Seal Of Approval, Fanshawe said: " She's very different, really, as she's by Pastoral Pursuits and Seal Of Approval, like most of the family, is by a stayer (Authorized).

"She's taken a while to come to herself, but she won't stay like the others. I think we'll be sticking to a mile.

"We'll see what rating she gets and make a plan from there."

Napoleon Solo's trainer-jockey combination Dave Morris and William Twiston-Davies had earlier hit the target with Sir Theodore in the Money Back 2nd At TitanBet.co.uk Nursery.

The 8-1 chance led from start to finish under the stands rail and had plenty to spare as he passed the post a length and a half clear of Refulgence.

"I just kept it simple. I think being on his own probably helped him as Dave said he's not the most straightforward," said Twiston-Davies.

"Being on his own, with me filling him up, seemed to do the trick."

Peter Chapple-Hyam's hot streak continued as Marshal Dan Troop (8-1) provided the trainer with his fourth winner on the spin in the TitanBet.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

The master of St Gatien enjoyed a Newcastle treble on Monday and this juvenile knuckled down well to beat hot favourite Cautious Optimism by a neck.

Winning jockey Robert Havlin said: " About a furlong and a half out he was getting there, but everything was in slow motion. He just took a while to get organised down the hill.

"He's had the two runs, so he's got a bit of experience and I think he just handled the ground a bit better than most.

"He's come on mentally since his first run. He's still got a bit of growing to do."

Giveaway Glance (10-11 favourite) rewarded odds-on backers in the British Stallion Studs EBF Rose Walsh Memorial Maiden Fillies' Stakes for trainer Alan King and jockey Fergus Sweeney.

Monasada (3-1) completed a hat-trick for Sir Michael Stoute Delga Press / Key Production Handicap under Paul Hanagan, while Turnbury stuck to his guns in the hands of Tom Queally to finally break his duck at the 25th attempt in the Bet And Watch At TitanBet.co.uk Claiming Stakes.

The Stuart Williams-trained Black Night was a 6-1 winner of the c oncluding D ownload TitanBet Sports App Median Auction Maiden Stakes, ridden by Andrea Atzeni.
