Dean Ivory may turn down Tropics' invitation to the Breeders' Cup and keep his stable star at home for big races at Haydock and Ascot before taking him out for the Hong Kong Sprint in December.

The Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock next month and the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot in October are the events Ivory is likely to aim his talented seven-year-old at.

Tropics was second at Ascot last autumn and showed he remains one of the top domestic speedsters when just failing by a nose to hold champion sprinter Muhaarar in the July Cup.

It was the second successive year Tropics had finished second in the Newmarket feature. He has since carried the steadier of 9st 13lb into a creditable fifth place in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood.

"Tropics is absolutely fine and we've got several ideas for him," said Ivory.

"I'm wondering whether to stay here with him for those two Group races at Haydock and Ascot and then maybe go to Hong Kong if he gets an invite.

"He has been invited to the Breeders' Cup, but it would be tough over there. They've got probably the best sprinters they've had for over 20 years.

"He'll probably stay here and go to Haydock, then to Champions Day and Hong King maybe. We'll see how we go.

"The thing is in America it's a great purse, but Ascot's Champions Sprint is worth a lot of money and I think I'd rather go for those two Group races over here than one abroad."
