Madame Chiang heads a field of nine set to take their chance in the Betfred Middleton Stakes at York on Thursday.

Twelve months after registering victory at the track in the Musidora Stakes, the David Simcock-trained four-year-old will bid for another big win on the Knavesmire in the mile-and-a-quarter Group Two.

Madame Chiang failed to produce her best form in either the Oaks or the Prix Vermeille, but she showed her class when storming to glory in the fillies' and mares' event on Champions Day at Ascot.

Simcock's inmate is one of two Group One winners in the race, with Ribbons also set to make her seasonal bow.

The James Fanshawe-trained four-year-old made her first outing in top company a winning one when taking the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville before just being edged out in the Prix de l'Opera on her final outing of the season.

Bragging will look to follow up her game win in the Dahlia Stakes and hand trainer Sir Michael Stoute a seventh success in the race.

The John Gosden-trained Belle D'Or will try to reverse form with Bragging after she finished third behind the Khalid Abdullah-owned filly at Newmarket.

Haydock maiden winner Talmada is to represent last year's winning trainer Roger Varian, while the Ralph Beckett-trained Secret Gesture will attempt to go one better in the race than 12 months ago.

The field is completed by Lady Tiana, Lily Rules and Odeliz.
