Scott favouring Plumpton Rendezvous

Jeremy Scott is favouring Plumpton on Sunday over Cheltenham on New Year's Day for Melodic Rendezvous.

The former classy hurdler made a winning chasing debut at Bangor, but was was all out to beat Dr Richard Newland's Boondoooma.

At the time the performance looked average, but Boondooma has subsequently won a good novice chase at Haydock very impressively.

Melodic Rendezvous is in the BetBright Novices' Chase at Prestbury Park on Thursday against the likes of Ptit Zig and Champagne West, but Scott is leaning towards a less taxing assignment.

"Melodic Rendezvous is unlikely to run at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and will probably go to Plumpton on Sunday for the two-mile-one-furlong novices' chase if the ground is soft enough for him," he wrote on his website.

"He needs to learn to jump safely and with confidence and this is more likely to happen in a quieter race than against horses with more experience.

"With hindsight, it looks like his run at Bangor is better than we initially thought with the second horse, Boondooma, since scoring an easy win at Haydock."
