UK: Queally Booked For Debt Ride

Tom Queally is to team up with Michael Bell in search of another Group One sprint aboard Sovereign Debt in Saturday's Darley July Cup at Newmarket.

Back in 2009, the Irishman caused a 20-1 surprise by winning the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on a spare ride for the Newmarket trainer in Art Connoisseur.

Adam Kirby has been aboard Sovereign Debt for his most recent two races, a second to Farhh in the Lockinge and a far weaker effort in the Queen Anne Stakes, but he will side with this year's Diamond Jubilee winner Lethal Force.

Bell said: "Tom Queally has been booked to ride.

"Jamie's (Spencer) likely to be required at Ascot with his retainer, but Tom has won a Group One for me before. Hopefully he'll have a sit on him on Wednesday. The intention is to run, but we're hoping Newmarket will put plenty of water on the course."

Lethal Force is one of two runners from the Clive Cox stable, along with Reckless Abandon, putting the Lambourn trainer in an enviable position, the only downside being that he has to run both speedsters in the same race.

Lethal Force is seeking a big sprint double after landing the Jubilee, while Reckless Abandon slightly disappointed when only fifth in the King's Stand Stakes at the Royal meeting, but Cox has not lost faith in the three-year-old, who won twice at the top level as a juvenile.

"I'm very grateful to have two very good horses in the yard at the same time," Cox told At The Races.

"The only disappointment is they are in the same race and taking one another on, but what a position to be in.

"They wouldn't work together at home, they are both in great nick going into the race and hopefully they will give their best performance and I think they will. With the weather we are having, the ground is drying up pretty quickly and I would be comfortable with them both on quick ground."
