UK: Feature Double For Hannon And Hughes

Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes completed a Goodwood feature double after Saturday's Celebration Mile success with Dubawi Gold when they won Sunday's G3 Supreme Stakes with Libranno.

Fourth in the July Cup, the durable colt bounced back from a heavy defeat in the Prix Maurice de Gheest in France.

It looked as if Libranno would be run down by last year's unlucky 1000 Guineas loser Jacqueline Quest but held on to score by a short head even though Hugh felt at one stage he had been headed.

"He's a good little horse,” Hannon said. “He could go for the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp now."

Hughes added: "He only does enough and the boss has done a grand job of keeping him fresh as he has had a busy year.

“I think the other horse maybe got a nose in front but he pulled out more. He's hard to pass."

Jacqueline Quest was having just her second start for Ian Williams after her owner Noel Martin switched her from Sir Henry Cecil.

"That was a big improvement on her last run and all being well she will go for the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster," reported the trainer.
