  • Nottingham was forced to abandon their card on Tuesday afternoon due to waterlogging, while Beverley had to pass an early morning inspection in order to stage their six-race card.
  • Jockey Phil Dennis revealed on Monday evening that he would be retiring from the saddle after racing at Beverley today. The rider, who has partnered 270 winners in Britain, put his retirement down to the constant battle' he faces with his weight.
  • The David O'Meara-trained Lava Stream was added to Saturday's Irish Oaks field at a supplementary cost of €50,000. The Elwick Stud-owned daughter of Too Darn Hot is a general 10/1 chance to go one better than when denied a neck by current market leader Port Fairy in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
  • Aidan O'Brien's latest Irish Derby hero Los Angeles heads the 25 entries revealed for the St Leger Stakes at Doncaster in September. The master of Ballydoyle is responsible for 14 of the 25 entries, with Irish Oaks favourite Fort Fairy also amongst the entries as she bids to become the first filly since Ralph Beckett's Simple Verse in 2015 to win the world's oldest Classic. Charlie Appleby's impressive Bahrain Trophy winner Ancient Wisdom also features, although stablemate Arabian Crown was a notable absentee from the list.
  • Ed Bethell looks to be targeting the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury this Saturday. The King Charles III Stakes runner-up was withdrawn from last weekend's July Cup due to soft ground.
  • Hugo Palmer has secured the services of multiple champion jockey Oisin Murphy for his well-fancied Super Sprint contender It Ain't Two at Newbury on Saturday. Murphy looks set to ride at 8st 7lb in the Newbury feature, just 1lb above his minimum riding weight of 8st 6lb.
