Apprentice Jack Doughty has been given a 20-day whip ban for multiple counts of overuse of the stick. Six of the days have been deferred, but the sanction will come as a major blow for Doughty, who currently leads the apprentice standings with 24 winners.

Aidan O'Brien is set for a rare runner in the Listed Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury on Wednesday. The master of Ballydoyle declared The Parthenon this morning. Ryan Moore will take the ride on the son of Kingman, who built on his promising debut in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes when getting off the mark over seven furlongs at the Curragh. He will face just two rivals in the shape of Andrew Balding's New Century and Charlie Fellowes' Luther.

Wathnan Racing revealed that immediate X-rays have failed to reveal any injury to Haatem. Their Group 3 Jersey Stakes winner was a late withdrawal from the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville yesterday after retained rider James Doyle felt something was amiss on the way to post.

Frankel's half-brother Kikkuli could bid to get back on track in Saturday's Group 2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury. The Harry Charlton-trained three-year-old finished runner-up behind Haatem in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot but could only finish back in sixth when sent off favourite for the Group 1 Prix Jean Part at Deauville in July. Thirteen horses were confirmed at the five-day stage, with Kikkuli a general 3/1 chance to get back to winning ways.

Connections of Inspiral are holding fire before confirming their future plans. The Cheveley Park-owned filly missed the break when third in the Group 1 Jacques le Marois and although defences of her Group 1 Sun Chariot and Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf are not ruled out, it remains to be seen if she will stay in training.
