Jack Jones enjoyed the biggest success of his career to date when Caburn got up late to land the Newbury Super Sprint on Saturday.

The Jack Jones-trained juvenile was sent off a 12/1 chance on the back of his winning debut over six furlongs at Brighton and although success didn't look likely for much of the valuable five-furlong prize, Dylan Hogan's persistence was rewarded as the pair finished with a flourish to claim Archie Watson's 4-1 second favourite Vingegaard by a neck in the closing stages.

"Unreal, I'm absolutely delighted," said Jones, speaking to ITV Racing.

"For us to have runners at meetings like this on a Saturday is rare at this stage. I've been very very happy with how things are going. Late year we really got rolling and got recognised by Steve (owner) and the guys to go and buy this guy as a yearling. Never did I think we'd be here, to be honest, yet alone winning it!"

A potential trip to York for the Gimcrack during Ebor week could be on the cards for the winner, with Jones adding: "He's in the Gimcrack and on the back of that, with that being his second start, that would be the obvious next step, I think. I was a bit worried at halfway because six (furlongs) is his gig.

The winning rider Dylan Hogan added: "I don't often ride in these big races and it's nice for the owners and Jack to stick by me. He's rewarded us with the faith that we've always shown in him. I've always liked him from day one and I begged the owners not to sell him when they went to the breeze."

"I was outpaced early, and I just had to keep niggling away at him, but I knew he'd keep going. I found a little bit of traffic, but he was really gutsy at the end when I needed him. I'm very very happy."
