Chocolats will make his Singapore debut when he lines up in the Class 4 over 1400m at Kranji on Friday night.
Formerly with the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott stable in Australia, the four-year-old gelding comes to Singapore with just four starts to his name and has shown good ability to date.
Winning on debut by a dominant five and a half lengths at Newcastle, Chocolats also placed at Wyong earlier in the year and is certainly well performed for a race like this.
Now with the Shane Baertschiger stable, the son of Fastnet Rock has trialled twice leading into this, running second on both occasions, the most recent behind Gran Torino over 1000m.
On what Chocolats has produced to date he certainly rates clear of his rivals in this field and if he has settled in well at his new stable he can certainly get the job done against these.
Drawing well in barrier 3, would expect John Powell to not have him too far away from the speed in what appears to be a fairly modest tempo.
Made In China has come back pretty well this campaign with two fourth placings, beaten two lengths on both occasions in similar company.
Drawn to get a good run again today in barrier 4 and steps up to the 1400m for the first time which could well be the key.
Doesn’t win often with just the sole victory from eight career starts but there is a bit to like about his two runs this campaign and third up over the 1400m could be ready to peak.
Katagas is another who has been knocking on the door in recent times with three strong efforts for the Lee Freedman stable.
Putting two placings together, Katagas then went on to run fourth last start over the 1200m and should relish the step back up to 1400m where he ran second two starts back behind Higher Soul.
Possesses a handy career record of three wins and seven placings from 20 starts and his recent ratings stack up strongly to his rivals today.
Has not won a race since April of last year and will need a bit of luck from the awkward draw but if he gets it can certainly fight out the finish once again today.
Lim’s Greeting is on the quick back up after running a good second in similar company over this course and distance last start.
Finished off strongly on that occasion but does have an extra kilo this week but with a solid record over the 1400m can measure up again.
Good luck!
