A smart front-running ride saw Daring Journey land the prize in the $55,000 Class 4 Stakes over 1800m on Friday night.

Ridden by 3kg claiming apprentice A’Isisuhairi (Harry) Kasim, Daring Journey ($38) scored by a length-and-a-half from the $10 favourite Profound (Alan Munro) with Can’t Touch Me (Barend Vorster) a length-and-three-quarters away third.
Jumping smartly from barrier six, A’Isisuhairi was able to cross easily to the front where he was able to stack the field up, running through the first 800m in a tick over 52 seconds.
A’Isisuhairi elected to continue to bide his time and only quickened the speed passing the 500m mark and on the point of the turn opened up a winning break.
Profound, which had tracked Daring Journey on the fence in third position, was being niggled at to stay in touch coming off the back and really only got warm over the final 200m of the race.
“That was a ten-out-of-ten ride,” said winning trainer Cliff Brown. “I said to Harry before the race that he would lead and to stack them up for as long as possible.
“He did that perfectly and on the hometurn he still had a lot of horse underneath him.
“This horse has been a consistent horse now having won seven races for us and around $250,000 in prizemoney.”The victory on Daring Journey provided A’Isisuhairi with his 11th win for the season and took him to the top of the Apprentice Jockey’s Premiership Table.
“He jumped well enough and we were able to get across to the lead quite easily,” said A’Isisuhairi.
“They left us alone and he relaxed very well in front and I knew then that it would be very hard for the favourite with the 58kg, having to give us 8kg.
“He travelled nicely in front and quickened up when I asked him and he also still had plenty left in the tank as well.”
A seven-year-old Australian-bred by Good Journey from Volkiss, Daring Journey was successful two starts back in Class 5 company before losing out in the last bound to The Great Grey in a Class 4 over 1800m on turf four weeks ago.
Friday night’s victory was Daring Journey’s seventh from 53 starts and took his prizemoney to more than $250,000 for the Lucky Rich No 3 Stable.
