SINGAPORE: McDonogh Cuts Short Singapore Stint

Due to work commitments back home, Irish jockey Declan McDonogh is leaving the Kranji riding ranks earlier than expected.

Licensed to ride in Singapore for three months between 26 November 2011 and 28 February 2012, the 31-year-old is returning to Ireland at the request of his trainer who needed his stable jockey back at the stables to assist with the increased workload due to a recent hike in horse numbers.

“I have been very impressed with all the people and facilities and have had a very positive experience here,” said McDonogh.

“It has not been an easy decision and it is with much regret that I have to leave early.”

In 34 rides at Kranji, McDonogh has ridden two winners (Little Dragon and Kobe Top Gun) and 11 placings.
