A filly tipped for a bright future at an early age is showing positive signs of fulfilling her potential.

Hello It's Me was a debut winner at Ruakaka for local trainers Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs before she was tested in black type company.

The daughter of Darci Brahma gave a bold last-start account of herself when she overcame a tardy beginning to finish fifth in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) behind Dijon Bleu.

“She played up a bit in the gates and missed it, if she hadn’t then she might already have some black type,” Gibbs said. “She’s very impressive and you wouldn’t think she’d even had a race.

“When she was a two-year-old we labelled her as an Oaks or Derby type and, at this stage, she’s certainly putting up her hand. We’re very happy with the filly.”

The immediate future of Hello It’s Me, who is eligible for the $1 million Karaka 3YO Mile (1600m) has yet to be confirmed.

“She’s a big, strong filly and we’re justified now in looking at the Listed race at Ellerslie in early December,” said Gibbs, referring to the Trevor Eagle Memorial (1500m).

Both Rising Romance and Habibi were successful in the race for the stable before going on to Group One glory.

Gibbs said Hello It’s Me’s current condition might force an outing before the Ellerslie contest.

“She’s jumping out of her skin at the moment so we may have to give her another run.

“We’ll be looking at all the options after that. There is the Karaka race and she’s definitely going to go over more ground.”
