He enjoyed success in Queensland on Saturday with the talented William Wallace while stablemate Benzini turned in another brave effort to finish runner-up in the Listed Ipswich Cup.

Their performances have convinced Bull, who trains the pair in partnership with his father Adrian, to extend his stay across the Tasman.

“Benzini always gives 110 per cent and we’re never disappointed with him,” Bull said.

The seven-year-old was coming off fourth placings in the Gr.3 Premier’s Cup and in the Gr.2 Brisbane Cup.

“He hasn’t had a lot of luck over here,” Bull said. “He struck a very heavy track first-up and then moving the Cup from Eagle Farm to Doomben and back from 2400 to 2200m didn’t help him.

“On Saturday, they walked in front and then sprinted home so with 60kg he did really well.”

Benzini will make his next appearance in the Listed Caloundra City Cup on July 1 and the gelding is then likely to take aim at the Listed Grafton Cup a fortnight later.

Meanwhile, Bull is keen to lift the bar for William Wallace in the wake of his Ipswich success.

“It was good to see him go on with it after that shocking first-up run,” he said. “He took a while to acclimatise and he’s fine now.”

The son of Darci Brahma was unsighted in his Australian debut before he won at the Sunshine Coast and Bull is now eyeing a start in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap on July 1.

“Whether or not he makes the field will be touch and go, but he’s going well enough to try and get him in,” he said.
