The Group One winner will be ridden by Michael Cahill when he resumes after a long lay-off in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup.

“He won on him the last time we were over there in 2015 so it’s lovely to have him on again– he’s a very good senior rider and I’m really looking forward to it,” trainer Lee Somervell said.

“We’ll see what happens on Saturday and take it a race at a time, but he will get into whatever races we want to look at.”

Addictive Habit, who won a Listed race on his previous visit to Brisbane, will be making his first appearance for 15 months after being side-lined by a tendon injury.

“It will be a tough first-up task over 1400 metres, but he’s proved before that he can do it and I’m very happy with the horse,” Somervell said.

“It’s been a long road back and he was on the walker for five months before we stepped his work up.

“He’s had two trials and was a nice third over a 1000 metres at Cambridge in March and then he won an open 1200 at Te Awamutu very impressively.”

Addictive Habit confirmed his readiness for the Queensland winter carnival with a strong hit-out between races at Te Rapa last Saturday.

“He had a good exhibition gallop and ran home well over the last 1000 metres, he’s looking good again,” Somervell said.

One of a number of Kiwi raiders who flew to Brisbane on Thursday, Addictive Habit has won 11 races with his career highlight a Group One victory in the 2015 Spring Classic at Hawke’s Bay.
