Jerusalem overcame a lack of experience to take a maiden win in the Class B Prix des Giroflees (2100m) at Vincennes on Tuesday evening. The Julien Le Mer trained filly had been disqualified on her sole previous start at Arras but caught the eye when beating more experienced juveniles.
Jérusalem started in the middle of the field at the start and was allowed to settle into a rhythm through the first half of the race. She showed sudden acceleration at the 500m marker, sweeping past rivals on the final bend. As the leading pack straightened, Jérusalem quickly took command of the contest. She and the second-placed filly Joyful Diva drew clear of the third. Connections were pleased with her performance, especially driver Franck Nivard who had also partnered her dam Anine.
Jérusalem's victory was particularly important for her sire Diablo du Noyer – a first winner on the track for the first season sire, who is currently represented by eight qualified juveniles from a crop of sixty.
