French Trotting News - Sulky Summer Series 5 Ans - Qualif 3

The Stats Guide: Sulky Summer Series 5 Ans - Qualif 3.

The G2 Sulky Summer Races 5 Ans – Qualifier three (Prix Albert Demarcq) (2850m) is the feature driven trotting race this weekend on Sunday at Vincennes.

It is a Group Two race for five-year-olds, excluding geldings. The first two home in this highlight will get priority participation in the G1 Critérium des 5 ans (3000m) scheduled for Saturday 4 September at Vincennes.

This event could is considered as a key trial race with it over 2,850m on the outer track. In recent renewals horses have achieved notable success in both races including the Jean-Michel Baudouin trained Eugénito du Noyer who won the last renewal of this Group Two in 2019 with last year cancelled during the Covid19 outbreak. Notre Haufor also completed the double in 2006 for trainer, driver, and owner, Christian Bigeon.

Univers de Pan won this before progressing to be a good third in the G1 Critérium des 5 ans (3000m) in the 2013 season. Quarla is another who was victorious in this before being runner up in the September feature back in 2009. Same comments can also be applied to the 2005 winner of this race, Mara Bourbon.

The race is named after Albert Demarcq who was a race commissioner in the 1950's.

In recent renewals no one has dominated this event with various drivers and trainers gaining success including Jean-Luc Dersoir, Christophe Gallier and Max Izaac.  Drivers wise, Éric Raffin has only had one victory in this contest (2019) since the turn of the century. However, Franck Nivard, Christian Bigeon and Jean-Michel Bazire have had more luck in the past two decades.

With this one of the feature races on the programme at Vincennes, we look at the numbers and figures behind the horses including career record, course history, driven success plus much more…
