Poseidon Ready To Rumble

The much in-form Poseidon appears well placed to return to the winner's stall, when due to contest the ninth event at Singapore this evening.

Well supported to win the Group 3 SAAS Fee Stakes [1400m], Poseidon stuck on gamely when finishing fourth behind War Affair & Storm Troops.

Beaten less than 2L, Poseidon was marked up to his peak and is clearly racing in great form for the Cliff Brown stable.

Prior to his defeat in the SAAS Fee Stakes, Poseidon had notched up back to back wins and Michael Rodd appears a key booking.

Overall Rodd strikes at 22% when combined with the Cliff Brown stable and Poseidon looks to receive all the favours from the inside draw.

In 14 attempts at this track, Poseidon has placed in 10 and has placed in 14 of 22 attempts at this track.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Poseidon appears well placed and looks to set a decent standard for his rivals.

The drop back in grade certainly aids his chances and he should prove very hard to beat.

The Laurie Laxon trained Daniel hasn't been far off the mark in recent efforts and has to be respected with Glen Boss aboard.

Although mixing his form, he was back on track in the SAAS Fee Stakes last start and he is a noted performer at this course and distance.

While only placing in two of his last 13 attempts, this is a very suitable race and he has drawn to get a nice trail into the race.

If able to repeat the level of his last start performance, he is sure to make his presence felt and looms as a major threat.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Blue Swede creates plenty of interest in his return, last seen finishing fourth in the Group 3 Fortune Bowl [1600m].

A winner of seven of his 28 starts, Blue Swede has placed in four of six attempts fresh and has won two of nine attempts over this trip.

Although likely to get back, he is sure to be strong late under jockey Matthew Kellady.

His two trials in the lead up have both been solid and he has to be kept safe.

Of the rest the James Peters trained White Hunter appears the next in line following his last start win at this track course and distance.

Admittedly he steps up in grade, but rates well and Manoel Nunes appears a key booking, having ridden the five-year-old to victory last start.

From the middle draw he is expected to lead and should give them all something to chase.

Good luck and happy punting.
