Jupiter Gold Set For Guineas Test

Emerging 3YO Jupiter Gold faces his first test over the mile but appears well placed to go back to back at Kranji this evening.

Due to contest the seventh event, the son of Congrats couldn't have been any impressive first up when making light work of his rivals.

Unseen since October last year, Jupiter Gold made his return over 1400m, notably his first attempt beyond 1200m.

Ridden by Alan Munro, Jupiter Gold was ridden patiently from the middle draw, settled towards the rear.

Peeled the widest runner on straightening, Jupiter Gold travelled strongly before unleashed passing the 300m.

Displaying a sharp turn of foot, Jupiter Gold hit the front inside the 200m, racing away to score by two lengths.

While easily his sternest test since his 2YO season, Jupiter Gold passed with flying colours and has clearly made good improvement off a break.

Improving eight pounds on his previous best, Jupiter Gold returned a new career peak, which is a great sign moving forward.

His performance also highlights the depth in the three-year-old ranks, led by the Alvin Tan trained Nova Swiss.

Very rarely a horse will return a new career peak first up, as generally most horses improve with racing.

Third up is usually the sweet spot for most horses so given what Jupiter Gold achieved, he is certainly set for a bumper preparation.

Jupiter Gold had always given the impression he would be better over further and he certainly confirmed those claims fresh.

The Group 1 Singapore Guineas [1600m] is an expected target and while obviously early days, he is a galloper on an upward spiral and appears more than capable of taking that next step.

Takaoka is a master of training middle distance gallopers and now Jupiter Gold is his next assignment.

Giving weight away to his elder rivals is no easy task, however he still appears well placed and is open to good improvement getting out to the mile.

From the inside draw he shouldn't be too far away and if able to springboard off his first up win, he should prove hard to beat.

The Ricardo Le Grange trained Politics [Old Name: Port Douglas] creates plenty of interest in his Singapore debut, formerly trained by Aidan O'Brien.

A winner of two of his eight starts, he has displayed good ability and while obviously better over further he is capable of sprinting well fresh.

With two trials under his belt he should be forward enough and has to be kept safe with Juglall aboard.

The Desmond Koh trained Battle Of Troy went to the paddock in great order and has to be kept safe despite the awkward draw.

An impressive winner over 1400m prior to a spell, he has since trialled well off a break and is unbeaten in two attempts at this track.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he isn't far off the mark and shapes as one of the leading contenders.

Of the rest the Stephen Gray trained B'Nevagivup appears the next in line following two solid performances to begin this campaign.

He appears set to relish the extra trip and has to be included in the main chances.

Good luck and happy punting.
