Emerging four-year-old Lightning Fast appears well placed to return to the winner's stall when due to contest the final event in Singapore this evening.

Trained by Desmond Koh the son of Hard Spun broke through for a very impressive maiden win two back before only narrowly edged out last start.

Lining up for just his fifth start, Lightning Fast has displayed plenty of ability and would have lost few admirers last start.

Although unable to salute as favourite, Lightning Fast didn't have a lot of luck when forced back to the inside over the concluding stages.

Hitting the line gamely on the inside, he was only just edged out and notably conceded 7kg to his rival Distinctive Darci.

Having won by 5.5L prior, Lightning Fast confirmed that high level of performance and did return a new career peak in defeat.

The clock also backed up the strength of the performance with Lightning Fast marked just over a length slower than star sprinter Super Winner.

Admittedly he steps up in grade, however Lightning Fast still appears very well placed at the weights and looks to set a decent standard.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Lightning Fast sits clear and considering he still remains open to further improvement, he suddenly appears a very likely winner.

From the awkward draw he is expected to adopt a prominent position with apprentice rider Chin Chuen Wong sticking aboard.

Wong currently leads the Apprentice Jockey Premiership, holding a slender lead over Troy See.

Unlike a majority of his rivals Lightning Fast is still only lightly raced and appears destined for tougher company.

Tonight is another step for the four-year-old, however he appears more than capable of rising to the occasion.

The Daniel Meagher trained Natural Impulse chases his fourth straight win following another impressive display at this track last start.

Having only joined Meagher's care this preparation, the son of Conatus is clearly racing in great form and while rising at the weights, he still commands respect.

A winner of three of his 13 starts, Natural Impulse had struggled with consistency but has clearly turned the corner since joining Meagher's team.

Given four weeks between runs, Natural Impulse has since been given a soft trial and all appears in order for his appearance this evening.

From the inside draw he is expected to press forward and find the front and should give them all something to catch.

Whether he can keep raising the bar remains his big query, however it is still hard to knock winning form.

The Mark Walker trained Ahmar creates plenty of interest in what is his Singapore debut.

Formerly trained in New Zealand the son of Sir Percy has collected the sole win from six starts, including two minor placings.

At the weights he gets his chance to make his presence felt and comes into this off some fairly solid trials.

From the inside draw he can adopt a prominent position and remains under strong notice.

Of the rest the Michael Clements trained Orchard Road appears the next in line following two solid performances to begin this campaign.

While possessing just the sole win to his name, he is more than capable and from the inside draw he has to be included in the leading hopes.
