Timeform Preview- Hawkesbury May 31

Dream Lane will appreciate the drop in grade when she lines up in the Hall Chadwick Class 1 Handicap (1400m) at Hawkesbury today.

The Nick Mitchell-trained runner has been racing in much tougher company of late and has form around the likes of Danish Twist and Mackintosh.

Beaten just under two lengths by Danish Twist in the Provincial Championship final, Dream Lane then went on to run a solid third behind Mackintosh at Hawkesbury over 1500m.

That form has since been franked by Mackintosh winning twice in Brisbane and off a solid effort for fifth at Rosehill last start, Dream Lane looks very well suited today.

Has been up for a little while now which is a slight concern and has only won the one race from 13 starts but she is a very consistent mare and based on her recent form has found a very winnable race today.

Gets a much needed 2kg claim from apprentice jockey and from barrier 8 expect her to not be far away from the lead.

Magicaz will take good improvement from her first up effort when fifth at Canterbury last start and she finds herself back in grade today.

Only previous win has come over the 1400m trip when winning by 8.8L at Albury before a spell and she looks to have good ability.

Jay Ford takes the ride for the first time and from the inside draw could settle a touch closer today then she did at Canterbury.

Magicaz rates well against her rivals on weight adjusted ratings and having hit the line very well at Canterbury last time out will relish the extra trip second up.

Down in the weights for this and expect her to take plenty of beating in this company.

Hickson Road is an interesting runner who returns off a 488 day break off some very encouraging trial form.

Won his most recent trial by 4.5L at Warwick Farm and her form to date has been very good, yet to miss the placings from six career starts.

Expect him to run well today however he is likely to improve off whatever he does and is certainly worth keeping a close eye on.

Validate also comes into consideration after a fair effort for fifth when returning at Scone last time out for new yard.

Ran well in tougher company last campaign and despite a long time between wins has ability and looks a strong chance.

Good Luck!
