Debt Collector proved most impressive in the Group 2 Singapore 3YO Classic and appears poised to clinch the Group 1 Singapore Guineas this evening.
A handy winner first up Debt Collector proceeded to take a good step forward when simply dominant in the feature event.
Ridden by Michael Rodd the son of Thorn Park has clearly come back in great order having only broken his maiden status two starts back.
Ridden patiently from the awkward draw, Debt Collector settled towards the rear before weaving his way through the centre of the field on straightening.
Forced to wait and ease of heels passing the 400m, Debt Collector unleashed a devastating turn of foot to hit the front inside the 100m.
While wanting to lay in he put his rivals away quite convincingly and went to the line to score by a length and a half.
His third win from six starts Debt Collector now comes into the Singapore Guineas as the highest rated 3YO and appears set to relish the step up in trip.
Unbeaten in his sole attempt over the mile he is clearly heading in the right direction and has drawn to receive all the favours.
The much in-form Michael Rodd continues his association aboard the three-year-old winning two of his three attempts.
Overall Rodd is striking at 25 per cent with the Brown stable and is sure to get Debt Collector in a lovely spot from the inside draw.
In the Singapore 3YO Classic [1400m] Debt Collector settled towards the rear however he is expected to settle closer this time around.
The Alvin Tan trained Conflightappears the likely leader from the wide draw with Magnum, Cyborg and Fitzroy also expected to adopt prominent positions.
Using Timeform predictive ratings Debt Collector looks to set a decent standard for his rivals and if able to continue his upwards spiral he should prove very hard to beat.
The Patrick Shaw trained Cyborg is the new blood on the scene and remains under strong notice on the quick back up.
Heavily supported to win the final event last Sunday, Cyborg was machine-like when easily disposing of his older rivals.
Admittedly this is a lot tougher however he gives the impression he will relish the step up to the mile and the fact the Shaw stable is willing to back him up suggests they hold Cyborg in very high regard.
Drawn a touch awkwardly he is likely to roll forward and adopt a forward position as Cyborg displayed good tactical speed over 1200m last weekend.
When assessing Timeform ratings he does have a bit too find on Debt Collector however he is only lightly raced and remains open to good improvement.
Whether he will handle the occasion remains to be seen however he is a nice horse moving forward and has to be kept safe.
The James Peters trained Magnum has unfortunately drawn wide again however he continues to improve with each performance and has to be respected.
In seven starts he is yet to miss the placings and while on trial at the trip he gives the impression it will suit.
Leading rider Corey Brown sticks aboard and will need to weave some magic from the draw as the wide trip told late last start when finishing third in the Singapore 3YO Classic.
If able to slot in just off the speed he is sure to be right around the mark.
Of the rest the Laurie Laxon trained Mr Scorsese appears the next in line as while unable to justify his short quote in the Singapore 3YO Classic he was deemed to have been ridden too close and is worth another chance.
Unbeaten from his first two starts he has displayed good ability and must always respect the Laxon stable.
Drawn well he is likely to be ridden a bit quieter this time around and watch for him hitting the line hard late.
Good luck and happy punting.
