The Shane Baertschiger trained Flak Jacket has returned two solid performances to begin this campaign and appears set to peak at Singapore on Sunday.
Only narrowly beaten first up behind Raise No Doubt, Flak Jacket went on to confirm that figure when again only narrowly beaten.
The step up to 1400m may appear a query however Flak Jacket looks to get the race run to suit and should appreciate the lesser tempo.
Last start Flak Jacket was simply outsprinted by Lim's Rally after the latter recorded a closing sectional over six lengths inside standard.Beaten just under a length there was a further two lengths back to third and Lim's Rally has since franked the form finishing a close second behind Majestic Moments in tougher company.
From the inside draw Flak Jacket looks to receive all the favours as there appears little speed engaged.Matthew Kellady sticks aboard having placed in eight of 12 attempts and should look to give Flak Jacket every chance in the lead.
Flak Jacket's closing sectionals from his last two starts have been very strong and if able to replicate that off a slow tempo he is sure to take plenty of catching. In 13 attempts at this track he has placed in nine and if allowed to dictate in front he will be the one they all have to run down.
The Patrick Shaw trained Pachelbel's Cannon sprinted well fresh before simply outclassed in the Group 1 Lion City Cup [1200m].
Finishing at the tail of the field on that occasion Pachelbel's Cannon will no doubt appreciate the sharp drop back in grade coupled with the step up in trip.On his day he is quite the talented type and if prepared to put a line through his last start he looks to hold strong claims in this event.
From the inside draw he shouldn't be too far away and if able to perform up to his best he is sure to be right in the finish. The Steven Burridge trained Jay Eff Express backs up quickly here following a fair performance behind Best Tothelign last weekend.
Despite unable to feature in the finish he wasn't disgraced and much like Pachelbel's Cannon he should appreciate the drop back in grade. In six attempts over this trip he has won three and should receive a nice run in transit from the inside draw.
Jay Eff Express has placed in five of seven attempts at this track and while he has a bit to find on the above two he is still expected to be right around the mark.Of the rest the Shane Baertschiger trained Hero I Am appears the next best despite his below par effort last start.
Prior to that his performance to win at this track was very good and a return to that level of form should see him right in the finish.Good luck and happy punting.
