Chase Ready To Win

Although unable to fill the placings this time in the Mark Walker trained Chase appears set to peak racing fourth up and should prove hard to beat in the ninth event at Singapore this evening.

An eye catcher in all three starts this time in the son of Nicconi has simply got too far back, working to the line well on each occasion.

His latest effort saw him finish two-and-a-half lengths astern of Golden Curl and while unable to threaten in the straight his closing sectionals were very strong.

Chase has won over the mile previously and while drawn out he shouldn't be too far away in the relatively small field.

On career best form he has a fair bit up his sleeve and while not the most consistent he is more than capable when right.

Rizuan Shafiq links back aboard and has placed in four of his eight attempts when steering the four-year-old.

Although Chase has failed to really live up to his early expectations (12-1 SP in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas) he hasn't been far off the mark and appears to be back on track.

In 13 attempts at this track he has placed in seven and has won fourth up previously.

From the wide draw he is likely to settle back in the field with Pole Paradise, Gold Peregrine, Ideal Guide and Smart Lad ensuring a solid tempo up front.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings Chase measures right up on recent form and if able to springboard off that mark he should prove hard to hold out.

The Stephen Burridge trained Gold Peregrine has raced in great order this time in placing in three of his four attempts.

While failing to fire second up his form either side of that performance has been very good and notably comes into this after only being narrowly beaten last start.

Gold Peregrine has placed at his only attempt at a mile and while drawn out his early speed can help to negate this hindrance.

The five-year-old has placed in six of nine attempts at this track and if able to hold his form Gold Peregrine is sure to make his presence felt.

The ever consistent Smart Lad hasn't done a lot of winning (3/21) but continues to race well and has to be respected from the favourable draw.

Last seen racing over 2200m Smart Lad has since been freshened (36 days) and should appreciate the drop back to the mile.

In eight attempts over 1600m Smart Lad has placed in five and has placed in 12 of 19 attempts at this track.

From the inside draw he looks to receive all the favours and is another who if able to hold his form is sure to be right around the mark.

Of the rest the James Peters trained Davinci appears the next in line following a return to form behind Golden Curl last start.

Hitting the line hard late to finish third the son of Mastercraftsman wasn't marked far off his career peak and has placed in seven of 12 attempts at this track.

At the weights he measures right up and with the in-form Danny Beasley sticking aboard he cannot be taken lightly.

Good luck and happy punting.
