Bowman Return Is Key For Raido

The progressive Raido looks ready to find the winner’s stall again when he lines up at Randwick this afternoon.

A wet surface has created some challenges for punters but those looking to make a move in TopBetta tournament play could do a lot worse than following the Kris Lees-trained gelding. Click below to get involved in TopBetta tournaments.

Raido goes around in race eight, which is about the time the big money will be decided in TopBetta tournaments so he looks one that can really make for a day to remember.

He should be ready to peak after two runs from a break and it’s worth noting he won his only previous third up attempt.

Both runs this time in have been good for a first up 0.4L second at Canterbury over 1100m before getting within 0.3L of Esgrimidor at the same track and distance last time.

He drops back to 1000m here but the wet track could make it a slog so the ability to get a longer trip may be key and he has won once and placed twice from three attempts at the sprint journey.

Leading jockey Hugh Bowman goes back aboard Raido today in a key jockey change and the hoop is two from two on the four-year-old, not having ridden him since July.

Raido has been a model of consistency winning four and placing at five of 10 career starts and while he has yet to win on the heavy has had three attempts on soft for two wins and a third.

Raido’s danger could come in the form of his Kris Lees-trained stablemate Felines.

The mare has a touch of quality and was a good winner first up at this track and distance before being trapped wide when attempting the 900 metre Bat Out of Hell at the Gold Coast as part of the Magic Millions carnival.

She loves this trip having won four and placed at two of six tries and is a soft track winner so TopBetta tournament players looking to split their risk may be wise to include Felines.

Rose Of Man is coming of a career peak rating when winning at Canterbury last time.

That was a Highway Handicap and he steps into a benchmark 78 here but there was a lot to like about the way he got the job done last time.

He drops 100m today but has won at the journey and is another with good soft form but has yet to win on the heavy.

Floral Insight is one that does love the mud, winning twice and placing 10 times from 21 heavy track attempts.

The veteran is also a 1000m specialist with 16 of his 20 career victories coming at the journey.
