Profit Share seemingly has a sense of timing about him in Thursday’s $45,000 Port Fairy IGA Cup at Warrnambool.
The Domesday gelding has been solid through his three starts this campaign, most recently producing a solid fourth in a strong Benchmark 84 Handicap at Ballarat.
12 days later, Profit Share should be approaching peak fitness fourth run from a spell in the Port Fairy IGA Cup (1400m) at Warnnambool on Thursday.
Thursday’s Port Fairy IGA Cup has 11 lining up in the event, of which, four horses sit outside of the handicap.
Profit Share is one of the class horses in the event and furthermore, is one of the form horses.
He also carries the limit weight courtesy of the 2kg apprentice claim of promising apprentice Kyle Maskiell.
There is seemingly a sense of timing to the Darren Weir-trained runner.
Also coming out of the same strong Benchmark 84 Handicap at Ballarat is the consistent Society Man.
The son of Pins ran second in the event and in the process, beat Profit Share by 2.2 lengths.
He meets Profit Share 2kg worse at the weights from that occasion.
Society Man while a consistent galloper is beginning to develop a reputation as a non winner.
It has been 13 starts and closing in on two years since the seven-year-old last won.
While clearly one of the main chances in the contest, such a run of outs is somewhat concerning.
After these pair, there is a sharp drop off down to the value chances.
Mr Walker produced the best run of his latest campaign when winning at Dunkeld last start.
Still early in his campaign, there is room for further improvement fourth up and out to seven furlongs.
Collins Street returned from a freshen up with a closing third at Donald 18 days ago.
He will have taken benefit from the run however now rises in grade on the outing and does sit some ways outside of the handicap.
Bel Rhythm comes out of the same Ballarat event as Profit Share and Society Man where he ran fifth, beaten six lengths.
He has some ground to make up on the above mentioned pair however that said, the Bel Esprit veteran is capable of taking the step.
With solid third up and distance credentials, Bel Rhythm is worth keeping safe.
