Seagrove To Salute At Warwick Farm

It should be a case of third time lucky this campaign for promising filly Seagrove in the opening event at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel has finished second in each of her two starts this campaign, both over 1400m at Kembla Grange.

She has been prominent throughout, settled outside the lead on both occasions.

Seagrove has stuck to her task well in both starts and a rise to 1600m third up looks ideal.

A full sister to Group placed stablemate San Diego, Seagrove can become the third winning foal of former Ingham-raced mare Del Mar.

She is drawn to receive all the favours from barrier 2 where jockey James McDonald should have her prominent.

Black Canary makes her metropolitan debut after a closing second over a mile at Gosford.

It was an encouraging performance by the daughter of Medaglia D’Oro who can build upon the display here.

Tough As Teak rises noticeably in trip after placing on debut over 1100m at Canterbury.

A 500m rise in trip on her debut outing isn’t considered the norm in terms of a preparation, particularly for a Not A Single Doubt filly.

That said, the stable must be respected and Tough As Teak profiles as a chance on what she produced first up.

Well Achieved returns off a freshen up which followed a first up second at Wyong over 1200m.

Her first up run and subsequent trial were each encouraging and a rise to a mile from 1200m is something a daughter of High Chaparral should relish.

A 400m rise in trip off a freshen up is another somewhat unconventional move though which doesn’t look overly ideal.

Of the six runners in the opening event at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, the most watertight cases can be made for Seagrove and Black Canary.

The former in particular shapes as the filly most likely to be shedding her maiden tag.
