Shotover River will be looking for three wins in a row at Doomben on Saturday and looks well placed when lining up in the All Cool Industries Open Handicap (2200m).

The six-year-old gelding has featured over this C/D in his last three outings, winning his last two, the most recent by a handy 1.3L after being blocked on the turn.

Winning jockey Luke Dittman remains on board and with the much needed 3kg claim gets in pretty well here.

From barrier 7, would expect Shotover River to go forward and settle on the speed and with only seven runners lining up looks very well placed.

Of the top several chances, Shotover River is the only one to have won over the 2200m trip and if he runs up to his last two efforts he will certainly be very hard to hold out.

The current price of $2.90 looks a good bet in this small field with Kaypers once again the main danger having run second behind Shotover River last start.

Hot Saga has also been racing in good form, winning his last two but remains unplaced from four runs at the course and is untried at the trip, having not won past 1800m.

Zaha’s Ace was disappointing when right in the market at Doomben last start but willing to give another chance here.

Placed in two previous outings and the step up to 1350m should suit here having won all three previous outings at the trip.

Last start was the first time the five-year-old mare had missed the placings at the course from five outings and she gets a much needed 3kg claim from apprentice jockey Alannah Fancourt who goes on board for the first time.

Would expect Zaha’s Ace to push forward from barrier 8 and take up the lead once again and on best form she rates very well against these.

Possesses a very good career record, winning 9/20 and placing a further five occasions and would not be surprised to see her add to that today.

Sister Emma and Lucky News are among the main dangers, but if Zaha’s Ace can find run up to anything near her best she will be too good for these and the $5 on offer looks a good bet
