Santuario To Have Punters In Prayer

Santuario can build upon an impressive first up win in the third event of the program at Flemington on Wednesday.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained colt made all on resuming at Seymour over 1309m and in the process recorded a Timeform rating of 84.

It was a performance which has him sitting on top amongst this field with 50 day weight adjusted ratings.

Add to that the prospect of further improvement both early in his campaign and career, Santuario has plenty of appeal in the third event at Flemington on Wednesday.

The colt will strip fitter and appreciate the rise to seven furlongs.

From an inside barrier, jockey Damien Oliver will have the colt prominent, settled in the first few runners and from there take some holding out.

Flemington’s 1420m Benchmark 64 3YO Handicap is a strong contest and while Santuario is capable of improvement on his first up showing, a number of his rivals also can take the next step.

Honourable Tycoon was a maiden winner at Kilmore last start over 1100m.

While not up against the strongest opposition, the colt did make all with relative ease.

He is drawn to be able to do the same again here although does have improvement to find even if equalling what Santuario produced last start.

Rationality made all on resuming at Geelong over 1200m and the victory was a soft one.

The filly produced the win with a bit up her sleeve and can go on with the job here.

Sneferu ran second at Seymour on resuming behind Santuario.

The gelding meets Santuario 2kg better at the weights and at the very least can keep things sporting.

Vienna Prince ran second at Cranbourne on resuming and is another who shapes as an improver with added fitness second up and based on best performances through his maiden campaign.

Despite taking on some handy opposition, Santuario is still clearly the one to beat the Benchmark 64 3YO Handicap (1420m) at Flemington on Wednesday.
