Great Scott First To The Pole

Talented three-year-old Great Scott can continue his rise through the grades when set to contest the final event at Singapore this evening.

Trained by Stephen Gray the son of Face Value broke back into the winner's stall last start when leading throughout at this track and trip.

Lining up for just his eighth career start, Great Scott has continued to raise the bar and boasts form through the likes of Affleck, Kiwi Karma and Affleck.

Allowed all the favours in front last start, Great Scott reeled off a slick last 600m marked close to four lengths inside standard.

Using Timeform ratings, Great Scott improved six pounds on his previous best and is clearly heading in the right direction.

Leading rider Manoel Nunes is unbeaten aboard the three-year-old and is currently striking at 32% with the Gray stable.

Stablemate Convict, Intense Gold, Red Dawn, Rusty Brown, Nation Theatre and Pole Paradise are the likely front-runners, which should ensure a good solid tempo.

From the rails draw Great Scott is likely to enjoy a lovely run in transit, before peeling out to make his run in the straight.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings, Great Scott is clearly the horse to beat and given he is open to further improvement, he sets a lofty standard.

The Leslie Khoo trained Fastnet Dragon is another galloper who continues to impress after he brought up back-to-back victories last start.

In just his fourth career start, the son of Fastnet Rock followed up his dominant maiden win two back, with another impressive performance.

Ridden by Alan Munro, Fastnet Dragon was forced to sit three-wide throughout, after unable to slot in from the wide draw.

Pushed forward passing the 800m to challenge for the lead, Fastnet Dragon travelled strongly entering the straight and let down powerfully passing the 300m.

Appearing somewhat under threat inside the 200m, Fastnet Dragon pulled out plenty, drawing away to score by over two lengths.

Fastnet Dragon improved five pounds on his maiden win and is still open to further improvement moving forward.

With three weeks between runs, Fastnet Dragon was given a tune up trial in which the four-year-old finished a narrow third.

Ridden quietly, Fastnet Dragon worked home strongly under his own steam and appears in good order for tonight's event.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings he does have a bit to find on his younger rival, however he too is progressive and looms as a major threat.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Red Dawn displayed sharp improvement last start and appears the next in line.

Narrowly beaten by Chase first up, the son of Align went on to post a dominant victory when leading throughout at this track over 1200m.

Improving three pounds on his previous best, Red Dawn has returned in great order and gives the impression he will improve further stepping up in trip.

Regular rider John Powell sticks aboard and from the inside draw he is expected to be in this for a long way.

Of the rest the Michael Freedman trained Rusty Brown appears the next best following a solid performance last start.

Hitting the front a long way from home, Rusty Brown kicked clear but was unable to hold off the late charge from the Bruce Marsh trained Powernova.

Marked up to his career best, Rusty Brown is racing in good order and should appreciate the drop back in trip off a five week break.

In 12 attempts over this trip he has placed in six including eight placings at this track from 17 starts.

Craig Newitt links back aboard and he shapes as one of the leading hopes.

Enjoy a great race!

Good luck and happy punting.
