Jiayuguan can build on a strong Australian debut in the Cellarbrations Benchmark 70 Handicap at Randwick on Wednesday.
The John Thompson-trained mare commenced her first Australian preparation at Rosehill over 1500m a fortnight ago where she settled back and worked home strongly into fifth.
She was simply given too much to do over the closing stages but still caught the eye well enough late on the wrong part of the track to think she is one well worth following.
On Wednesday, Jiayuguan steps up to a more suitable trip at Randwick in the Cellarbrations Benchmark 70 Handicap (1800m).
The mare will have taken benefit from her first Australian outing and will also relish factors such as the step up to 1800m and the more spacious Randwick circuit.
The China Horse Club-raced mare will again settle back but will be running on strongly behind watch should be a moderate to solid early tempo as far as 1800m events go.
Jiayuguan already rates highly amongst this field based on the form figure returned for her first up outing.
It should be noted though the strength of the form this daughter of Teofilo brings across with her from France.
While her Australian debut returned a Timeform rating of 84 however boasts a master Timeform rating of 102 returned in her final French start for trainer Nicolas Clement.
The four-year-old also possesses a performance assessed at 96 during her maiden campaign.
It highlights just how open to improvement the mare is on her first up outing.
In a field largely comprised of limited types, she is clearly the one with the most upside and can showcase it on Wednesday afternoon.
She also holds a feature race entry for the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes in four weeks time which suggests the stable clearly has an opinion.
There is a lot to like about the mare despite her contest what shapes as an above average middle distance midweek event.
Flying Sebring was a last start winner at Rosehill and should be around peak fourth run from a spell.
James McDonald rides and should have the gelding prominent throughout.
Chestnut Road doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
He ran third last start at this course over a mile. From an inside barrier with a 3kg claim offsetting his big weight, expect nothing but another forward showing here.
