Veloce Forte To Fire At Randwick

Veloce Forte can build on an eye catching first up run at Randwick on Wednesday in the Colin Glover 3YO Fillies Benchmark 67 Handicap.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly resumed at Warwick Farm where she settled back and rattled home into fourth over 1300m.

It was an eye catching performance and one suggestive of a filly in store for a good preparation.

The filly was hitting the line well despite travelling wide throughout and produced the effort off a generous spell of nearly a year.

She ran to a Timeform rating of 80, 16 pounds shy of her peak figure of 96+ achieved when producing a dominant debut victory at Kembla Grange back in March 2014.

It shows there is substantial room for improvement and the filly can at least go some of the way in bridging the gap on Wednesday in the Colin Glover Benchmark 67 3YO Fillies Handicap (1400m).

The daughter of High Chaparral will strip fitter for the run off a generous spell and will also be better suited up to the longer sprint journey.

Veloce Forte lines up in a strong field of fillies however her convincing debut win has her rating well on top.

The filly was beaten last start by Absolute Empress who she again meets here along with two other runners from that event.

Absolute Empress was impressive in winning at Warwick Farm however a strong case can be made for Veloce Forte bringing greater upside into this contest.

She gets a 2kg weight swing on Absolute Empress from when they last met and a 1kg swing off the runner up in that event, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Pinch Me.

The Absolute Empress form line appears the strongest heading into the contest so don’t be surprised to see the same group of fillies fighting out the finish again here.

Magnajoy brings a new form line into the contest who has kicked off her career with two straight wins.

The filly was a convincing last start winner at Hawkesbury and making the win all the more impressive is the fact she largely got by on raw ability.

With two raceday outings under her belt, she heads to the city prepared to make an impression at the finish.

The Colin Glover 3YO Fillies Benchmark 67 Handicap (1400m) has the potential to be a strong form reference moving forward.

A market watch is strongly advised on the Chris Waller-trained Ballet Suite.

The filly makes her stable debut after a three start campaign for Mark Kavanagh early in the season.

Connections were harbouring stakes grade ambitions with the daughter of High Chaparral.

These did not eventuate with only a maiden win coming of the preparation.

She does hold a nomination for the AJC Oaks though keep an eye out for any positive market leads.

That being said, Veloce Forte holds nominations for both the Australian Guineas and the AJC Oaks and looks the one to beat on Wednesday in the Colin Glover Benchmark 67 3YO Fillies Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.
