Environmental Commands Respect At Wyong

Expect Environmental to break maiden status when contesting the Wyong R.C Functions Centre Maiden (1350m).

Environmental kicked off his latest campaign at Gosford a fortnight ago when a close second over 1200m behind the Anthony Cummings-trained Brettan.

The Commands gelding was prominent throughout and was only just collared late behind a promising sort who is considered a better chance in his event at Randwick on Saturday.

Environmental would have at least taken benefit from the outing and with fitness derived from the run plus the addition of Blinkers, appears very hard to beat at Wyong on Thursday.

The three-year-old is a work in progress having been gelded during his latest spell and getting the blinkers added second up after performing well fresh.

All signs point to the gelding improving off that outing which already has him rating well clear in this field.

That run returned a Timeform rating of 84, one pound shy of his master figure achieved on debut in a handy two-year-old race featuring the likes of Dothraki and Aussies Love Sport.

While there a couple of debutants in Impeccable and Trumped, Environmental finds a race where rivals with disclosed form have already amassed their fair share of convictions.

From an inside draw, jockey Christian Reith should have Environmental positioned handy throughout and the pair is largely expected to accelerate away in the straight.

He appears very well placed with the main danger seemingly the Bart and James Cummings-trained Green Empire.

Green Empire has shown promise during his two career runs so far, both at Kembla Grange, running home well in each.

The son of God’s Own is no doubt open to further improvement at just career start number three but comparatively needs a lot more of it than the anticipated favourite.

There is a sizeable 18 pound margin between his and Environmental’s master figure.

Teo resumes after a generous spell in which he was also gelded.

His lone raceday outing came at Newcastle last March where his run peaked just inside the final furlong.

Trials at Rosehill and Randwick so far this summer suggest the Teofilo gelding has matured and is beginning to put things together.

A market watch is strongly advised on the gelding.

It’s Environmental who has the form on the board though and the gelding should take a power of beating in the Wyong R.C Function Centre Maiden (1350m).
