A sharp drop back in grade should see the Wayne Carroll trained Lycra Lass make a return to the winner's stall this afternoon when she lines up in the last race at Wagga.
While unable to live up to expectations in tougher company of late her form overall hasn't been that bad and appears lobbed in at the weights lining up back in this company.
To put it in perspective Lycra Lass hasn't contested a race of this low a level since April 2011 and although allotted the big weight she does appear well placed with the 4kg claim and is proven to handle the wet conditions.
In 12 attempts at this track she has placed six times including three wins and while her best form has been seen at six furlongs she has won previously at this trip.
Although drawn a touch awkwardly she should still be able to press forward and lead with the Keith Dryden trained Roman Alliance the only other likely galloper expected to pressure her in front.
If able to receive a few cheap sectionals out in front she should show too good a turn of foot for her rivals and prove far too good.
Roman Alliance relished the step up to this trip last start when proving too good over the concluding stages at Goulburn when edging out Macks Cutie.
Having placed at nine of his 19 career starts the son of Holy Roman Emperor appears well placed with the claim and has won three of four at this trip.
Likely to shade Lycra Lass in the lead from the wide draw and is expected to be right there if she proves weak over the concluding stages.
With a number of key scratchings depleting the field the next in line appears the Peter Clancy trained Iza Star who comes into this off a solid fourth in Open company last start.
Proven to never be that far away having placed at seven of his last 16 he possesses a fantastic record at this track and is a noted performer in the wet.
Tim Clark links aboard for the first time and is expected to be right around the mark.
The Trevor Sutherland trained My Dear Friend resumed with a solid performance last start and rates as a solid place chance.
Good luck and happy punting.
