Good And Hot has been racing in fine form of late and will prove very hard to beat once again when she lines up in the E & S Trading Benchmark 70 Handicap (1000m) at Geelong today.
The John Sadler-trained runner resumed in good order with a win at this C/D, before stepping right up in grade to finish midfield in open company at Flemington, beaten 5.8L.
She bounced back to form last start when running a narrow third at Bendigo and has since had a short freshen up of 26 days and the blinkers go off for this.
Good And Hot rates clear on weight adjusted Timeform ratings and Thomas Sadler who has a good record on the horse stays on board and from barrier 5 will settle up on the speed.
The now four-year-old mare comes up against a handy field here but has shown enough in recent times to suggest she is the clear top elect here and having won her only race at the track can seemingly handle the synthetic.
Oamaru Princess from the Jason Warren yard looms as the main danger resuming from a spell on the back of some handy form last campaign.
The daughter of Oamaru Force was last seen when scoring a win in tougher company at Sandown and has won when fresh previously.
She finished fourth in a recent trial at Cranbourne and from barrier 8 will go straight to the lead and take plenty of running down although is giving Good And Hot some 3.5kg which could prove the difference.
Black Jack Boy also stays under strong notice and appears to be working nicely into this campaign, coming into this off a last start second placing at this C/D.
Mark Zahra goes on board for the first time and he is likely to make his presence felt at some stage throughout the race.
Outside of these there looks to be a couple of each way chances which includes the resuming Oamaru’s Choice who was very good last campaign.
He is yet to win when fresh or over this distance but is rarely far away and can run into the placings here.
Chantoozie also has claims fresh despite not having won in a while now but on best form rates as a genuine chance.
