Emerging Mario Caltabiano filly Wayward Snip looks set to build on a recent maiden win when she lines up in the Bathurst Veterinary Hospital Class 1 Handicap (1100m) this afternoon.

The Snippetson filly should strike similar conditions to three weeks ago where she led from start to finish in bringing up an impressive maiden win at this track and trip.

That earned a Timeform figure of 63 and she looks one with plenty of upside here only second-up from a five-month spell.

She ran to a Timeform figure of 70 when third at Nowra in her second career start back in December, and can go past that today in a very winnable looking race with jockey Grant Buckley retaining the ride.

Timeform takes a look at the chances of each horse in the race.

1. Crimson Lake – Resuming. First up and wet track records aren't great. Goes better over the longer sprint journey. Passing for now.

2. Decision Made – Well supported when finishing midfield last time out at Wyong. Has been thereabouts in recent runs and dropping back to country company looks to suit. Rates highly.

3. Budgee Boy – Resuming after nearly two years off the scene. Showed good promise during maiden preparation although that was a very long time ago. Trialled in readiness for this. Keep safe.

4. Rapid Canny – SCRATCHED

5. Black Friday – First up performance was solid before proving a bit flat racing second up. Now drops back to a more suitable race and comes in well at the weights with 2kg claimer aboard.

6. Wayward Snip – Resumed with a strong all the way win at this track last start over 1100m. Drawn well here and appears to have come back in good order off a break. Fitter second up. Proven on wet. Easy to like.

7. Delaval – Tried to make all last start at Dubbo and almost got away with it. Handled the heavy track pretty well on that occasion and can work into a minor placing.

8. Anaheid – Resuming. First up record is poor and form had really begun to wane badly at the end of last preparation. Passing at this stage.

9. Cardina Girl – Broke through for a maiden success three starts back at the picnics but has failed to go on with it in recent times. Doesn't rate well enough to be considered today.

10. Cool Force – Two runs since winning at the Boorowa picnics have been poor. Not interested.

11. Smart Money – Has been below his best for a long time and is now winless in 513 days. Comfortably beaten when seventh at Gosford last start and hard to have on recent efforts.

12. Rapacount – Failed to beat a runner home on resuming at this track and trip. Others have more appeal on latest form.

VERDICT: Wayward Snip hit the ground running on resuming at this track and trip last start. Has her maiden out of the way now and finds a race in which she can go on with the job. Decision Made ventures out to the country after predominantly racing at the provincial level. Black Friday does the same third run back from a spell. Market watch advised on Budgee Boy resuming after a lengthy spell.
