The lightly raced Heroic Action looks well placed to continue on his winning way, when lining up in the Blessed Hair and Beauty Benchmark 65 handicap (1200m) at Mackay today.
The three-year-old gelding has won two of his three races, running second on the other occasion, all at this course.
The Darren Symons-trained runner scored by a handy 2.3L last start over 1300m and back to 1200m should no be an issue for him here. Dale Missen maintains the ride and looks hard to go past in this.
Heroic Action should get a pretty good run from barrier 6 and only lightly raced, is one with plenty of upside and should improve on recent form.
Stablemate Zanatus looms as the main danger, winning three of his last four and running in the money his last five starts. Goes well here at his home track and gets a much needed 3kg claim off his allotted 60kg.
Won at this trip just two starts back but may need just a bit of luck from barrier 10. He is rarely far away however and looks the most likely to challenge Heroic Action.
Private Chat also must be respected here and despite being safely held last start at Doomben, drops back in grade for this.
Won a class four at Rockhampton just two starts back and has a solid enough record over this distance. Has a bit to find on the top couple of chances but is not without an each way hope.
Commanding Spur looks the best of the rest, second up in this on the back of a last start third placing when resuming at this course. Up in trip but generally finishes in the money here at his home track and is sure to be thereabouts again.
Hard to see anything else challenging here and with plenty of improvement to come Heroic Action looks very hard to beat here.
