Street Set For Return Home

In form galloper Blackett Street can continue his good form in today's distance race at Gosford – the TAB.com.au Handicap (race 2).

Prepared locally by Fred Cowell, Blackett Street has been in good form lately and will take beating again in this Benchmark 70 over 2100m.

The gelding, a son of Danasinga, took a few starts to warm up this campaign over shorter distances before putting the writing on the wall three starts back here over a mile.

Settling well back, he worked to the line nicely to finish fourth and looked likely to appreciate ground at his next run.

And that he did, racing here over 2100m in this class where he struck a slow track and rolled forward to sit second early outside the leader.

But jockey Kathy O'Hara upped the ante well before the turn and took over, setting up a good break straightening before holding on well for a 2.5 length win over Inscribe.

Last start, Blackett Street dropped back to 1900m at Canterbury Park and went up in class to a benchmark 75.

There he settled fourth early and turned second last in the small field before working home strongly in the straight, finishing runner up and beaten a length behind Reigning.

The gelding rises in weight today but drops back in grade and returns to his home track.

The longer journey suits, he is comfortable in the ground and the small field is also in his favour.

Regular rider O'Hara is aboard again and despite a wide gate he should be on the speed and will take running down.

The Gerald Ryan trained Awi Acting comes into the race nicely at the weights and looks the main danger.

The lightly raced gelding, a son of Dubawi, also put the writing on the wall over a mile four starts back in a Class 1 at Kembla Grange before stepping up to 2100m here and scoring a strong win in a Benchmark 65.

He then raced over 2100m at Wyong in this class and after getting back made steady ground to finish third, before returning here for the 2100m journey again in a Benchmark 65.

Getting back, he made a long run and came away with a three quarter length win over Levitating.

This is a tougher assignment but he drops in weight on the win and has a superb record at the course and distance, unbeaten in three tries.

He should be hard to hold out with the one query being his two unplaced efforts from two tries in slow ground.

Frozen Rope is backing up quickly after disappointing last time but may be worth another chance.

The consistent gelding, prepared on the course by Adam Duggan, had a win and two placings from his first three this time in before winning here over a mile in heavy ground where he was far too good.

He then headed to town over 1900m at Canterbury Park and after settling midfield failed to come on, finishing 10th.

While the jockey felt he didn't run the trip, the trainer reported to stewards he felt it was the tight circuit that was his undoing.

He has had one run at today's journey, which was here at his last run before a spell, and he was runner up on that occasion.

The soft track suits, the easier grade suits, and he should take up the running and give a big sight if he can back up quickly.

Hello Mister was well held last start in tougher grade in town but prior to that was a 2600m winner here.

He'll be tough at the finish and should enjoy a good run from the inside gate.
