Quick Brown Fox

Talented filly Fox can overcome a wide gate when she kicks off in today's final race at Gosford – the Galaxy Motel Handicap (race 8).

The lightly raced filly has two wins on the board form five career runs and despite a big weight and wide gate in today's Class 2 handicap over 1200m she will take running down.

Prepared by Adam Duggan on the course, Fox made her debut over 1100m at Canterbury last season and led until the final stages before finishing a three quarter length second behind Do You Think.

She then tackled the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes and after leading until well into the straight, faded over the final stages to finish fourth behind Anise.

She was spelled for the remainder of her juvenile year and resumed in a three-year-old maiden at Warwick Farm, but after bombing the start and being used up to stride through to the speed she ran out of steam with a fading seventh behind Debelle.

She then returned home over 1100m here and led throughout to score a 1.8 length win over Annonay.

Last stat before another spell, over 1100m in this class here, she drew wide and scooted across to share the lead before drawing clear and running away to win by four lengths.

The filly faces a tough assignment today as she takes on older horses and has drawn a wide gate.

After the claim she will carry 57kg and she is fitter for a recent trial win.

The filly has a touch of class on her rivals and despite the gate looks hard to beat again.

The Peter Snowden trained Catacomb heads to New South Wales today after some solid runs in Victoria.

The gelding was a 1300m winner at Bendigo three back after sitting just off the pace and running on well.

He then took on three year old class over 1100m at Caulfield and dropping back in journey and backing up he was beaten for speed and never came on, finishing eighth.

Last start, over 1200m at Moonee Valley, he sat closer to the action and boxed on well, finishing fifth and beaten 2.8 lengths behind Pakari Toa.

Nash Rawiller goes aboard today as he races in the other direction and he has drawn well in the inside gate.

The drop in weight and drop in class are in his favour and he looks to have a strong chance on his best figures.

The Paul Perry trained Gigolo Volante is yet to run a bad race and looks a big danger.

The gelding placed on the Kensington track on debut before finishing fourth at Warwick Farm.

He then dropped back to maiden class on his home track at Newcastle and led throughout to score after drawing wide and crossing to the lead.

After a spell he resumed over 1100m at Gosford and worked home steadily to finish fifth behind Rapid Attack, beaten only 1.5 lengths.

He is fitter, suited at the longer trip and Hugh Bowman sticks with him.

Golden Dive looks next best on his two recent placings here.

The gelding has been runner up in both a Benchmark 65 and a non metropolitan winners race at his last two when racing on the speed.

He has drawn well today, has an excellent record on the course and seems to handle all conditions.
