In-form mare Exceed And Excite will give her backers a big sight in the final race at Seymour today – the Centrebet.com Get Out Handicap (race 8).
The mare is shooting for a hat-trick of wins and despite a wide gate will take running down over the 1009m journey.
The Leon Corstens-trained mare put the writing on the wall three starts back when placed over 1100m on the all weather track at Geelong, leading until well into the straight before being run down and finishing third.
Dropping back to 1000m there, she had a light weight and shared the speed early but forged clear in the straight and scored a 1.5 length win.
Last start, over 1000m at Bendigo in an RB62, she carried 56kg and went straight to the lead, again proving too strong with a half length win.
The mare drops in weight after the claim for Tom Sadler as she rises to an RB68 today but has drawn wide in barrier 13.
Exceed And Excite will come in several places after scratching though and the five scratching also help her chances, taking out two in particular, Penn State and Save A Penny, who are both pace horses.
While racing in top form and with the light weight she will cross and take running down again.
Invincible Jess is a talented mare who is yet to win fresh but looms as the biggest danger.
The John Salanitri-trained mare did much of her racing in town last campaign, two starts back running up the 1000m straight at Flemington where she ran on well to finish third behind Star Of Giselle.
She then returned to provincial class where she tackled an RB68 over 1000m at Bendigo, and after sitting off the speed proved too classy with a neck win.
The mare resumes here with a bigger weight but is well placed in this grade and has drawn well in barrier five.
Yet to win fresh-up, she has started three times and placed all three and with a box seat run today looks set to at least feature in another.
Happy Joker is an honest mare who is unbeaten at the trip and is expected to run well fresh.
Prepared by Robbie Griffiths at Cranbourne, Happy Joker scored her maiden win three back at Bendigo over this journey when sitting just off the speed and running away with a soft win.
She then ran fifth over 1100m there in a disappointing run but obviously had a little issue as Griffiths sent her out again a week later to the all weather at Geelong, where she sat off the speed and ran on to score again.
Happy Joker has placed at her only fresh up run, has placed at her only try at the track and with a good run from barrier three will be hard to hold out.
Talia Mia is rarely far away and will be fitter for her recent run.
The trip suits and she'll be camped back but running on hard.
