Dantalion Can Do It Again

Progressive galloper Dantalion can go on from an easy last start win in today's Moneywise Securities Handicap (race 7) at Wyong.

The lightly-raced gelding broke through for his maiden win last time and although up in class to today's Benchmark 60 can go on with over the 1350m journey in soft ground.

Prepared at Randwick by Pat and Wayne Webster, Dantalion is a son of Oratorio who has raced just six times.

After finishing ninth on debut he ran on improved race to finish sixth then stepped up to a mile and put the writing on the wall a win wasn't far off.

That was at Gosford where he sat just off the speed before working home well for a long neck third in a busy finish.

He then raced over a mile again at Gosford and started well fancied.

Sitting second throughout, he was one paced in the straight and could manage only fourth so Webster sent him for a break.

Resuming over 1300m on the Kensington track at Randwick, he showed good dash over the 1300m and led well into the straight before fading to finish seventh.

Last start, with the run under his belt, he raced over 1300m at Hawkesbury on heavy ground and after sitting third in the run loomed up and ran away with a strong 2.5 length win.

He meets a tougher field today and carries the same weight but will be fitter again for the slightly longer trip.

The soft track suits and he has drawn well for winning rider Rod Quinn.

With a solid pace in the race thanks to a few going forward, he should be camped just off the speed and with a bit of improvement on his first success should be in the finish again.

The Joe Pride stable has been in sparkling form lately so it's worth noting he drops Positive Vibes back in grade for today's race.

The gelding was a winner here at the trip and in similar conditions five back with a big weight and wide gate.

He then ran on late over 1200m at Warwick Farm before a somewhat luckless and fast finishing second over 1200m at Kembla Grange.

Two starts back he returned here over 1350m but covered ground throughout, battling on well for a close-up fourth, before heading back to town over 1580m at Canterbury.

That was in a Benchmark 70 where he sat just off the speed but only battled home to finish fifth.

Today he rises in weight but drops in grade, drops in trip, returns to a winning track and conditions and his winning rider Corey Brown is back aboard.

There are lots of positives for today's race and he is expected to improve sharply.

Fast Ale is never far away and should give a big sight.

The gelding led throughout to score an easy win five back then got back from a wide gate and made late ground when sixth.

He then finished fourth at Newcastle, runner-up at Kembla Grange and runner-up here at the trip last time when trying to lead throughout and just missing.

On that run he'll give a big sight again here.

You Owe Us is fitter for two runs for a new stable including a good fresh-up run in town.

The extra trip suits and today he should enjoy a good run just off the speed.
